Simple opal cuff

Here two Boulder Opals play off each other on a textured silver cuff. Each opal is set in gold and the contrast between the yummy blue, bright 22K gold and darkened silver makes this a simple but elegant cuff. $850

Ancient Pottery Shards

This striking Pendant is made up of fossil Ivory, an old anasazi pottery shard, and accented with an old african glass bead. It hangs from large white pearls, which can be worn alone, as the pendant is detachable. The bail of the pendent is accented with 22K gold.

People are not allowed to take pottery shards from national or state parks, but it is entirely legal to collect them on private property. This piece is from a private ranch near Mesa Verde. It is slightly curved suggesting it was from a very large bowl shaped piece..it would have been fabulous to see it in it's first incarnation! $750

Old african copal amber in modern treatment

Technically copal is a resin, a "pre-amber"...I'm not sure exactly how it is formed, but it's yummy colors really speak to me. This is a large bead 1" around from an old African necklace that I set in silver with a small opal in the center hole. It has gold accents and is on a cuttlefish band. $275. Each ring is unique.

Peruvian opals, the best of the sea colors

It's hard to love the beach and not love Peruvian Opal. The lovely sea green/blue is compelling. Found only in Peru, in the Andes, it's not an easy gem to find. Typically I find only 10 a year that I want to work with. These are set in silver with 22K gold accents.

Clockwise from top:
Top: twig cuff with peru opal and gold "buds" $475
Simple silver twig ring $95
"Wrapped ring" with Peru opal bezeled in 22K gold $265
Cuttlefish ring with Peru Opal in gold $295
Peru Opal pendant with cuttlfish accent in silver and gold $260
Peru Opal cuff with cuttlefish surface on cuff: $375
Larger Peru Opal cuff with cuttlefish surface and gold accent $395

I love incorporating textile techniques in metal, I think that's a formal way of saying I love to weave metal..this cuff features a woven silver base, with 4 small Australian opals surrounding a yummy blue green Peru Opal. The cuff is 2" wide. $1150

This is my favorite opal necklace. Silver and gold handmade beads are strung on a silver snake chain, with 5 Boulder Opal pendants. Although this one has a home, a new one could be created for you. Price would depend on the opals used to make the necklace.

Who would have thought that Arizona turquoise and Peruvian opal would go well together? But, they do in this cuff, which is studded with 22K gold accents.

Cuff 2" with turquoise, overlaid with Peru opal set in 22K gold, all set in silver with heavy 22K gold primitive overlay. $1200

It is said that Boulder Opals are the last of an ancient sea bed. Created over millenia, as ancient oceans dried up, moisture and silica combined under great pressure to make opal..this material was deposited in cracks and fractures in ancient boulders..thus the name Boulder Opal. The moisture left in the stone creates a sparkle, similar to a tiny rainbow when light hits the stone just right, and the best of the best are the Australian Boulder Opal.

Neckring of silver with 22K gold accents with Boulder Opal, each element is handmade and can be rearranged or removed to create a new necklace! Price available on request.

Contemporary Scrimshaw

Scrimshaw is an ancient practice that was perfected by sailors at sea, and carving on bone or fossil ivory is a very ancient artform and one of the longest lasting. These pieces mix up the artform with the lovely graphic qualities of dice, and give it a fresh perspective.

Bottom: Earrings of silver and 22K gold $190, can be done as clips too.
Middle left: Ring of silver, 22K gold and fossil ivory set in silver, available in all sizes $250
Top right: Large cuff 2" wide with a scrimshaw fossil ivory petroglyph horse and bone accents in silver with 22K $950

Woven earrings

These earrings are silver or bronze, and are available in clips or posts. They make a nice everyday accent. The distressed surface plays up the handmade woven metal design. Bronze $95 Silver $145.

Those old earings...hmmm

Before this was a lovely ring with a natural twig inspired motif, it was two 10K gold signet rings from way way back. It's a very nice way to keep the sentiment and have a new sparkly treat. The cost of doing this piece was only the labor, since I used the gold from the old rings to make the new mounting. Inquire if you have pieces gathering dust in the jewel box!
